Alpha Kappa Delta

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the International Sociology Honor Society dedicated to promoting an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition. The XI Chapter of Massachusetts was founded at Wheaton College in 1995.

Eligibility for membership in Alpha Kappa Delta is as follows: (1) Must be an officially declared sociology major or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology; (2) Must be at least a junior; (3) Must have accumulated an overall grade point average of 3.3; (4) Must have maintained the equivalent of a 3.3 grade point average in sociology courses taken; (5) Must have completed at least five regular courses in sociology prior to initiation (exclusive of extension or courses graded pass/fail), Duly initiated members shall become certified Life Members.
