In addition to pre-practicum and practicum placements, the Wheaton College Education Department collaborates with public school districts in a number of ways. Our Partnership Advisory Group, consisting of school district leaders, meets regularly with the department. Local administrators and teachers routinely visit our seminars in order to discuss assessment, special education, English language learners, the hiring process, and other topics. A local educator has also joined the Department’s Education Advisory Group. Professor Bartolini has provided a professional development workshop in which early childhood teachers explored STEM education and the use of video documentation (VoiceThread.com) for training, mentoring and coaching purposes. Professor Bartolini has offered a Saturday spring course (ED 298 Issues in Early Care and Education) for local early childhood educators, contracted through The Southeastern Education Professionals Partnership (SEEPP). SEEPP is a partnership made up of early education and care and out-of-school time center-based programs, public schools, independent and system-affiliated family childcare, Head Start, and higher education institutions. Wheaton has also hosted a Tri-Town STEM EXPO for hundreds of middle school students from the Norton, Mansfield and Foxboro public schools.
