Alert Levels help the community understand the current level of risk on campus and the metrics and information guiding campus-level decisions. Depending on specific health and safety conditions on and off-campus, the campus alert level may change and/or specific restrictions relaxed or applied, as appropriate.

Current Alert Level: Green – Low Concern

The Campus Alert Status Level is determined by Wheaton College’s President’s Council, in consultation with the COVID-19 Task Force and while taking into consideration a number of internal and external COVID-related factors that include:

  • State and local guidelines and mandates.
  • Guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and other public health agencies
  • Positivity and vaccination rates in local and state communities.
  • On-campus positive test rates and contact tracing.
  • Campus capacity for healthcare, quarantine, and isolation.
  • Campus access to appropriate supplies and staffing for infection protection, mitigation, and ongoing operations.
  • Observations and recommendations from the Return to Campus Task Force

  • Staffing levels on campus may be limited to allow for in-person and remote work options.

Indicators and/or factors for consideration:

  • Rising levels of positive and symptomatic tests but not to the level of capacity concerns in quarantine and isolation housing.
