See WiFi instructions for Windows and MacIntosh.
VPN Access
Some software is licensed to be used by the Wheaton community only. Technically the restriction is enforced by checking the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the person attempting access to the material. The IP address, in many cases, must be one that could be obtained while working on campus.
In order to obtain an on campus IP address from off campus, you need to authenticate yourself at the Wheaton firewall. In order to to do that, you need to have an ID and password on that firewall and run a specialized software program on the computer you are using from off campus.
The VPN also allows you to access other resources on-campus resources that are blocked at the firewall. Examples include, but are not limited to, printing to campus printers, sending mail through Wheaton’s mail server, and accessing non-public servers.
Faculty, staff and students not in residence at Wheaton are eligible for off campus access.
