Student Health Insurance Requirements

According to Massachusetts state law, all students must be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage as a Massachusetts Qualifying Student Health Insurance Plan (QSHIP). To ensure that all students have the required health insurance coverage, students are charged for the Wheaton College Student Health Plan.

In order to waive enrollment in the Student Health Plan, an online Student Health Plan Waiver Form verifying enrollment in a comparable health plan by a U.S. health provider must be completed by the deadline. Any student with health insurance provided outside of the United States will be required to enroll in the Student Health Plan. The purpose of this policy is to ensure timely and quality health care while attending Wheaton College. Students who do not complete and submit the online waiver prior to the first date of the semester for the academic year, will be assessed the full year premium, billed in two installments. After submitting a waiver, you will receive a confirmation email of your waiver from Gallagher. Please keep this email for your records.

Student Health Insurance Waiver

Students must provide proof of health insurance coverage in order to complete a request to waive the health insurance plan. If you wish to waive the health insurance plan, please complete an on-line waiver request.  The deadline to waive the Health Insurance charge is prior to the first day of the semester, for the academic year. New and transfer students, in spring only, will be charged a prorated amount in the spring term and must waive by prior to the first day of the semester.

Optional Accident Insurance Plan

Wheaton College also offers accident insurance for any student who waives the student health plan. The purpose of the optional plan is to provide low cost secondary insurance coverage, particularly for varsity athletes (under the accident sections of both policies, varsity athletes are covered 100%, subject to the policy limitations).
