Mining Memory: Childhood, Nostalgia, and Critical Remembering in Peruvian Culture
Report
During the 2010-11 academic year, I was fortunate to have senior Elisabeth Salner as my Wheaton Research Partner. Elisabeth assisted me with the preparation of my book manuscript. First, she began the process of compiling a bibliography using the chapters of the book I have already drafted. The result of her work is 12-page bibliography, set up in Refworks in folders for each of the individual chapters. This is an excellent base for the bibliography for the book and will also aid me in preparing the index. Elisabeth double-checked all bibliographic references and also compiled a list of the bibliographic items that still need to be included in the bibliography.
The other aspect of the project was the incorporation of the English translations already available in published translations. Elisabeth located the translated works, painstakingly collected all the textual quotations from these published translations, and inserted them into my drafts. This work required a student who could read Spanish and who was familiar with the works. Elisabeth performed this very time-consuming work beautifully.
Original proposal
I would like a Wheaton Research Partnership student to help me with the preparation of my book manuscript, tentatively titled Mining Memory: Childhood, Nostalgia, and Critical Remembering in Peruvian Culture. I have completed drafts of several chapters of this book and have two more chapters to write. However, at this point in the project I need assistance for double-checking bibliographic references and compiling the bibliography. I would like a WRP student to check footnote and bibliographic references in each chapter and start compiling the final bibliography using refworks.
