Professor of Mathematics and Director of Quantitative AnalysisLexomics: Deep Access to Old Texts
Proposal
This WRP proposal seeks to hire a student to learn, or extend their current knowledge of the statistical programming language R, as we expand and extend the capabilities of the Lexomics project. The work will start by gaining a theoretical understanding of the mathematical background of cluster analysis and will implement techniques for testing hypotheses regarding the validity of cluster analysis applications. We will apply the methods to the Anglo-Saxon, Latin and Harlem Renaissance texts already being analyzed as part of the digitized texts developed during the summer of 2011 as part of the Lexomics Group's NEH grant.
