Writing Across the Curriculum

Wheaton is committed to helping students become successful, effective writers in all of their courses and in their future workplaces. Our faculty participate in the writing across the curriculum movement (WAC) and collaborate across campus to achieve the two major WAC goals:

  • to promote the use of writing in disciplinary courses as a means of learning
  • to promote writing instruction that teaches students how to write disciplinary-specific genres.

We achieve these goals in various ways—through discussions, publications, faculty workshops, peer tutor workshops, classroom workshops, and one-on-one meetings with instructors and students. Click on the links to learn more about what we do on campus.

This new website is another avenue that works to foster a community that values writing and writing instruction. Here, faculty, students, and parents will find a variety of WAC information and resources, including courses, syllabi, and writing assignments that demonstrate our commitment to writing.
