Visiting the Rhode Island Maker Faire 2012
Posted on August 13, 2012
Colleen Wheeler and Tom Armstrong headed to the annual AS220 Foo Fest and Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, August 11th. We visited with Angela, a local maker working in soft circuits, where she showcased some of her projects including an Anglerfish Theremin and a hoop-based musical suit. A Foo Fest exhibitor and Steel Yard instructor, Nora Rabins, demonstrated the fusion of fibre and sound with weaving on a loom driving the production of music.
As an example, to the left is a sampling of lamps on display at the Maker Faire. These 3D-printed lamps are "made of multiple polygonal pieces designed for diffusing light in a truncated icosahedral lamp design" [2012 Makers].
