Balfour Scholar Stephanie Antetomaso '12, a Russian studies and linguistics double major, assisted Wheaton College Professor Tom Armstrong in his research in Norton, Massachusetts. She is the recipient of a 2012-2013 Research Fulbright award to the Republic of Estonia. At Wheaton, she received the Fred Kollet prize in Mathematics and Computer science, the Prudence G. Lusky Prize in Russian Studies, and the Wheaton Scholar Prize.
She presented her paper "Unsupervised Discovery of Phoneme Boundaries in Multi-Speaker Continuous Speech" at ICDL-EpiRob 2011 in Frankfurt, Germany. She also presented "A Computational Analysis of Nabokov’s Works" at the 17th Annual Undergraduate Colloquium on Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard.
