Getting Images from Your Desktop onto the Web with Internet Explorer FTP

FOR PC USERS

FTP (File Tranfer Protocol) vs. Frontier: Frontier is the web editor, the place where you can edit and/or create new text. Any adjustments you wish to make to your web pages can be done here. Within Frontier, you can type the address of an image you would like to include in your page, but there is one more step needed for the image to appear on your site. FTP allows you transfer your image from your desktop onto the web server, and thus, to appear on your webpage.
Finding FTP:

IE Address

In order to get your images up on the site, you need to upload the image to the folder containing your site. To do this, start up Internet Explorer and type in the address demonstrated above: ftp://yourwID@wheatoncollge.edu.

Logging In:
FTP Signin
To sign in, you need to fill out the User name and Password. Use your wID as your username. Your password will be assigned by the Web Strategy Team. Once you have filled in the form, click Log On.
