Using Frontier to Edit Your Web Pages
Frontier vs. FTP: Frontier is our web editor, the place where you can edit and create new text. Any adjustments you wish to make to your web pages should be done through Frontier.
Within Frontier, you can type the address of an image you would like to include, but you'll need to take one more step before that image can appear on your page. This is where FTP comes in. Use FTP to place an image on the college's web server; once the image is there, you can use Frontier to point to it and pull it into your page.
Logging in to Frontier:
- The first step is to point your browser at wheatoncollege.edu/edit
- Sign in using your Frontier username and password and click submit. If you have forgotten your password email us at web@wheatoncollege.edu
Log in follow-up screen: This screen provides you with some options which include: Change my web editor password, Edit a web page, and Update my staff profile. To choose an option, click on the little circle to the left of the option and if it fills in, click "Submit", it will take you to the selected screen.
1) Change my web editor password: This screen allows you to type in your new password twice and submit. You have changed your password.
2) Edit a Web Page: This will take you deeper into the web editor, allowing you to make changes to your allotted web pages.
3) Update my staff profile: If you have a staff profile that needs updating, you can do so here.
Select the "Edit a web page" option and click the "Submit" button.
- You will be brought directly to the section of the website you are responsible for editing. If you are responsible for more than one section you will have to navigate to your area using wheaton and then a dot and then the subheading in the menubar.
- Choose the file you wish to edit. Again, files are named using a dot instead of a slash like you would see in a web address.
For example, The men's basketball schedule that would be located at wheatoncollege.edu/Athletics/basketballm/schedule.html on the web would be Wheaton.Athletics.basketballm.schedule.
We have two versions of the Frontier Editor. If your screen looks like the figure below you are using the “old” editor. Click here (Job Aid number 4) to learn how to use the old editor.


If your screen looks like the figure below (with the basic and advanced toolbars) you are using the “new” editor. Click here (Job Aid number 5) to learn how to use the new editor.

If you have completed your work, you may close your browser to quit out of the Web Editor.
