Safe Zone Student Ambassadors Named
Posted on March 11, 2008
The Office of Student Life is proud to introduce the Safe Zone Student Ambassadors!
The Safe Zone Committee completed one if its goals this year by creating a student leadership and advocacy group entitled Safe Zone Student Ambassadors. Students were selected by the committee based on their maturity, involvement, and potential for activism in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and ally (LGBTQA) community at Wheaton.
The Student Ambassadors completed a two day training in presentation and facilitation skills in order to facilitate future Safe Zone Trainings. In addition, the Student Ambassadors are charged with multiple responsibilities which include creating awareness on campus through programming on LGBTQA issues and embodying the qualities of an ally at all times.
This unique addition to the Safe Zone program will increase student involvement with Safe Zone initiatives and keep student perspective in the forefront of our work.
If you are interested in becoming involved with the Safe Zone Committee, please contact Nadia Omar in the Office of Student Life.
