Cyber Security Doesn't End in October!

Posted on November 3, 2014

That's correct... Cyber Security awareness isn't only for one month. We have to be aware every day!

Be aware that email phishing scams do still exist and we see them every day! Protect yourself by always verifying requests for personal information and money.

Follow this simple rule: NEVER accept a job that requires you to handle someone else’s money. If an “employer” wants you to receive a check and forward the money elsewhere, it is 100% guaranteed to be a scam. Every. Single. Time.

Money/wire transfer scams are also among the most prevalent scams that people are falling for today. Scammers use money transfer services because you’re essentially just mailing cash quickly across the world.

You can protect yourself by following another simple rule: NEVER wire money or send money via Western Union or Money Gram to someone you do not know.  If someone you don’t know or haven’t met in person is telling you to wire them money, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a scam.

Be safe... Do your homework… Pick up the phone and call Tech Support at 508.286.3900 if you have questions.

PLEASE REMEMBER: LIS Technology Support will *NEVER* request passwords or other personal information via email. Messages requesting such information are fraudulent.
