Decommissioning the old mail server on 5/23/13

Who: Faculty/Staff/Students receiving this email message
What: Decommissioning the old mail server - please remove your connection to it
Why: Google is now the production mail service so we no longer need the old one
When: Thursday, May 23rd at 8:30 am
Details: If you have received this email message then you are on our list of email users that are still pointing to our old mail server called (mail2.wheatonma.edu) either on a college owned or home computer, cellphone, iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. The LIS Technical Infrastructure department will be decommissioning the old mail server on Thursday May 23rd at 8:30am.
What you need to do: You will need to delete the (mail2.wheatonma.edu). If you do not remove your connection to the old email server (mail2.wheatonma.edu) by this date, your email application could begin displaying warning messages.
How you need to do it: If you receive the warning message you can remove the old account information in one of two ways: 1. Follow the directions below or 2. Call 508.286.3900 and we will walk you through it.
If you use Thunderbird go to Accounts and right mouse click on the old account (mail2.wheatonma.edu) and select "Settings..." then select "Account Actions" then "Remove Account".
If you use an iPhone/iPad you can go to the "Settings" app then "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and locate the old email account and remove it.
