Songwriting Club
Posted on June 12, 2011
Our goal is simple: teasing out the creative spirit from the corners of the Wheaton community, while aiming to teach those who have little to no songwriting experience about the intricate and fascinating process behind writing a song, lyrics, or melody. (Often times, we simply discuss means and techniques of coming up with an idea for a song.) No musical experience (neither in theory nor in performance) is necessary, although it is always nice to have some musical knowledge, skill, and/or familiarity in the room. Each club meeting is conducted in the form of a workshop, and members are encouraged to be thoughtful, considerate, and helpful when giving feedback. We may also partake in fun activities, such as analyzing an existing song by a famous songwriter or composer, during meetings to get our creative juices flowing.
