iSpeak

Posted on September 30, 2010

iSpeak!, Wheaton’s only Spoken Word Poetry Club , is designed to create a community within a community through words, respect, and understanding. iSpeak! aims to stimulate college students' social, political, cultural, and personal speculation. In addition, iSpeak! strives to promote active interest and involvement in social, political, and personal affairs as well as support the ideals and principals of the First Amendment of the United States. The greater goal of this club is to use our poems, discussions, and campus events to shed light on the multiple diversities between us all as humans. We simultaneously hope to create a realization that our differences need not separate us, rather, they can aid us all in understanding and changing the ways in which we can become more socially responsible individuals locally, cross-culturally, and globally. iSpeak! meet's once a week for an hour. At a typical iSpeak! meeting one would hear poems from limitless subject matters such as heart-ache, love, war, greed, injustice, apathy, and a plethora of other life-related aspects that shape our human experiences.
