Posted on September 13, 2010

The Wheaton College Equestrian Team is a competitive club team within the Region I, Zone 4 of the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association). The team competes against varsity and club teams from Stonehill College, Boston College, Boston University, Tufts University, Bridgewater State, Curry College, Mount Ida College, Wellesley College and Brandeis University. The season is in session in both the fall and spring semesters with the culmination being Regional, Zone and National finals at the end of each spring.

The team meets for weekly lessons at Phoenix Rising in North Smithfield Rhode Island.  Each year, the team has about 20 team members with varying levels of experience.  The structure of IHSA allows riders of all levels to show in divisions with similarly experienced riders.

The team is coached by Amanda Hare. Amanda has been with the team since 2001.  Representatives of the team have gone as far as Zones for the last two years, and all the way to Nationals in 2010.
