Office Assistant

General description

Are you interested in visual art, music, theatre or dance? This may be the job for you. As an office assistant in the Office off the Arts you will help to plan and publicize arts events on campus including visiting artist program events. This position will primarily work in the office for scheduled shifts 2-3 times per week, but may also occasionally be asked to work evening events.


• Basic office work including filing, photocopying, paperwork, preparation of mailings, running errands on campus, may include basic graphic design work
• Web editing (Wordpress), social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and calendar maintenance (internal and external)
• Hanging posters on campus
• Event photography as assigned
• May include ushering/house managing at events, assisting with the set-up/transport/strike of instruments/equipment to various venues on campus (may involve lifting)
• Other projects as assigned

Experience/skills required

• Previous work experience preferred; office skills are preferred
• Basic software skills including Word, Excel, database (Filemaker); familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud and Mac OS are preferred
• photography experience is a plus
• Individuals should possess good people skills and be comfortable interacting with the public and be able to express themselves with confidence
• Must be self-starting and extremely reliable
