The Mars Center for Science and Technology, including a new three-story building and the renovation of the first floor of the existing Science Center, represents the most ambitious building project in Wheaton history.
We plan to create a facility that promotes the college's unique Connections curriculum, by creating spaces that encourage interdisciplinary learning and research. The design of the project will encourage collaboration and community and also reflect Wheaton's commitment to environmental sustainability by incorporating features that will enable the building to earn LEED certification.
The structural steel frame of the building was completed on Sept. 1, and the new building remains on schedule to open for the fall 2011 semester.
