January Orientation

When you arrive on Monday, January 22, 2018 between 12 and 3 p.m., follow these 3 easy steps:

  1. Follow the signs to Parking Lot 4. Walk to the Balfour-Hood Campus Center to Sign-In and to receive your room keys. This step is required of all new students.
  2. Proceed to your assigned residence hall, unload and move in!
  3. Get to the 'Residential Life' session on time at 5:00pm in Meadows Center.

We are finalizing the details for your January Orientation program to ensure you are connected to the Wheaton community. A final schedule will be provided at Check In on arrival day, in the meantime, students can feel free to use the schedule below to plan accordingly.


Monday, January 22

12 p.m. -3 p.m. Arrival & Check-in ® 
SAIL & Residential Life Suite, Balfour-Hood Campus CenterReceive your room key, registration materials and confirm health records.
3 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Free-Time & Family Farewell Unpack and settle into your new home.
5 p.m. -6 p.m. Residential Life ®
Meadows Center Area Coordinators and other hall staff will discuss the various policies and procedures that help create a positive residential experience.
6 p.m. -7 p.m. Dinner ®
7:00 p.m.-11 p.m. Group Outing ®
Join the Orientation Assistants for a night to remember! Enjoy bowling, arcade games, laser tag and some yummy snacks.

Tuesday, January 23

11 a.m. -12 p.m. Advising Team Meeting #1 ®
3100, Mars Science Center
12 p.m. -1 p.m. Placement Examinations Library Atrium, Wallace Library

Those who plan to take more than one exam should alert their preceptors.

Meet individually with your preceptors for a valuable discussion about your goals and the Wheaton experience. Bring your advising folder and any questions you may have. Your appointment time will have been assigned by the Preceptors during the first advising team meeting.

Filene CenterMeet individually with your faculty advisor to discuss your academic goals at Wheaton, review your spring registration, and finalize your class schedule. Your specific appointment time will have been assigned by the preceptors during the first advising team meeting.

Lyons Lounge, Balfour-Hood Campus CenterLiving in a community like Wheaton comes with both expectations and opportunities. Ignoring the first can lead to a loss of the second, something a few students each year learn the hard way. Dean Kenny will share information and advice on navigating new relationships on campus, plus some cautionary tales that might keep you from being one of those few students she talks about at this session next year.

Gain knowledge on taking action to keep the Wheaton community safe.
3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Advising Team Meeting #2 ®

Come together after finishing exams and advising appointments. This meeting will give you the opportunity to ask your preceptors any lingering questions.
5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.. Dinner with your Student Government Association ®
Chase Small, Chase Dining Hall
Learn about the Honor Code and Wheaton Traditions with Wheaton’s SGA. Bring any unanswered questions for the student leaders.
9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m Game Night 

Atrium, Balfour-Hood Campus Center

Enjoy games from giant Jenga to Cards Against Humanity. All students will be returning, so use this chance to meet fellow Wheaties
