Free Speech & 1st Amendment
What does "free speech" mean for students and student groups at Wheaton?
As an educational institution, Wheaton encourages you to find and use your voice because expressing individual or group opinion is an important part of the American heritage and is a means of exchanging thought and opinion. Wheaton does not wish to silence anyone and encourages you to maintain respectful behaviors, actions and expressions in accordance with the Honor Code.
We are a society of great diversity and Wheaton is a place for these differences to be aired and discussed.
When speech or a demonstration becomes unsafe, violent, or represses the rights of others, Wheaton administrators will connect with the individual or group to discuss methods for improving the message.
