Wheaton's Outdoor Orientation Program (WOOP) is an outdoor orientation trip for new students. As with many Wheaton initiatives, WOOP is a student inspired and lead program. The program will run from Sunday, August 20 to Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

All participants and their families will arrive at Wheaton on Sunday, August 20th to move into their residence hall, get settled and join us for an opening lunch. Move-in will be from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. followed by the Welcome lunch. After lunch, parents will depart and the WOOP leaders and participants will jump into action.

Nature’s Classroom’s Sargent Center (Limited Capacity)

In this trip, students will arrive at Nature’s Classroom’s Sargent Center in Hancock, NH on Monday, August 21, and stay until Wednesday, August 23. Students will stay in yurts, large circular tent structures found in small villages surrounding a fire pit. While at Sargent Center, the group will make use of the 700+ acre property, including 11 miles of hiking trails, a lake, low ropes, high ropes, and much more. Over the three days there, the group, accompanied by trained staff, will progress through a series of activities and team building challenges, ranging from small trust activities, to the high ropes, including rope swings and zip lines. The group will also hike, go on the water, make fires, and have free time for relaxing and getting to know each other.

The WOOP trip is a great way for students to transition into their Wheaton lives.  This program is designed to help students to make meaningful social connections with students of similar interests, while challenging themselves and experiencing the outdoors. Additionally, WOOP leaders help provide incoming students with a friendly face on campus throughout their years at Wheaton. Registration is non-refundable and non transferable. This covers all costs associated with the WOOP program, transportation to NH, food, campsite, activities and Sargent Center staff.

Please note trip activities could be modified due to weather or other external factors.

This year's WOOP Trip will be $350. This covers the cost of all meals, transportation, accommodations and adventure activity fees. This program is a collaboration between the SAIL Office and the Outdoors Club. If you have any questions, please email sail@wheatoncollege.edu
