Position Description & Intro:
20 CORE Leaders will be hired to welcome, mentor and engage members of the Class of 2016 during their overnight stay on campus. During the CORE June program, CORE Leaders will share their Wheaton experience and help new students feel connected to the community both academically and socially. We are looking for students with leadership experience on campus.
Application Process & Deadline:
- Submit cover letter, resume & reference list (3) by Wednesday, March 7th to Andrea Holden, Director of Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership (SAIL).
- Cover letter should include: Why you are applying for the position? What skills/experience do you offer (Please use examples)? Also, share an example of how you have worked as part of a team and what you learned from that experience.
- Interviews will be held on Sunday, April 1st. Those invited for an interview will be notified by Wednesday, March 21st.
Training &Program Dates:
- Commitment to ALL training and program dates is expected.
- Training Retreat: Monday, May 14th, 9am – 5pm.
- Training Session: Thursday, June 7th @ 3pm – Saturday, June 9th @ 5pm
- Program Dates: Sunday- Friday, June 10-15, 2012
General Responsibilities include:
- Assist with all aspects of CORE program/activity preparation and execution.
- Participate fully in CORE Training programs.
- Each CORE Leader Team will have 10-12 new students per session.
- Engage new students in the community, making them feel welcome and connected at all times.
- Serve as a Preceptor by facilitating pre-advising sessions.
- Serve as an RA in the residence halls during CORE sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Be a fully engaged CORE Leader, committed to the success of the program.
- Uphold the Wheaton College Honor Code and college policies at all times
Qualifications:
- 2.75 Cumulative Grade Point Average
- Preference given to those who have received training through on-campus leadership positions (i.e. Preceptors, Resident Advisors, WAMS, SGA & club leaders, team captains, etc. . .)
Compensation:
- $250
- Room & Board during training and program.
