Ultimate Frisbee gears up for Spring Break trip
Posted on November 15, 2011
Lemony Fresh is Wheaton's Coed Ultimate Frisbee team. We practice three times a week both indoors and outside. Our team has players of all experience levels; we welcome everyone to come out, even if they have never played before. Each semester we travel up and down the east coast, spanning from Maine to Georgia, playing various colleges and club teams. The tournaments we go to are one or two days on the weekend, during which four to seven games are played.
This Fall semester we have gone to four coed tournaments, with two more coming up in the next month. In early September we attended Club Sectionals in Devens, MA, a tournament that hosts elite club teams from New England. We finished 3-3. In October we traveled up to Maine and played in UMaine-Farmington's tournament, finishing again 3-3. Over Halloween weekend we played at Wesleyan through rain and snow, unfortunately this tournament was snowed out halfway through, but we did win both of the games played. Then in November we played in a local round robin at Providence College, with three other local schools (RIC, PC and New Haven). We went 2-1 and wound up winning the tournament on point differential. We are still planning on going to two more tournaments both out on the Cape, in Falmouth, MA. For the past three years the team has traveled to Georgia for the week of Spring break, to compete in a three-day tournament against colleges from all across the country. We intend to keep this tradition running, and to go to Georgia this Spring break.
