Harrassing phone calls
Public Safety investigates all reports of annoying, harassing or obscene telephone calls. If you receive such a phone call, hang up immediately; do not engage in conversation. Do not slam the receiver down; just quietly hang up. Remember never to give out personal information such as your name, address, social security number, birthdate, or ATM PIN's to anyone who calls you.
Notify the Public Safety Department by calling ext. 8213. If the caller leaves a message, save the message (press 9 during the message to save it.) If the calls continue, the Public Safety Department will work with you and the college telephone service provider to attempt to identify the caller. Those found responsible for making annoying, obscene or harassing telephone calls may face criminal prosecution as well as college sanctions.
To aid Public Safety in their investigation, keep a telephone log to record the date and time of the call, the type of call, characteristics of the caller, and background noises.
You may ask that that the college's telephone services change your telephone number, voice mail number or both. Also, the phone number and voice mail number may be deleted from the campus telephone directory.
