The college has received a report of an apparent drug-assisted sexual assault occurring on campus over the weekend (Jan 25-26,2014). The report indicates someone placed an unknown substance into a female student's drink. The unidentified perpetrator is not believed to be a Wheaton student.
The appropriate college staff have been notified and are taking all necessary steps to support the student who reported the assault, to protect this student's right to confidentiality, and to maximize the safety of all students on campus.
If you have any information that may be related to this incident, please contact the Public Safety Department as soon as possible.
The college takes reports of sexual assault very seriously; student safety is our utmost concern. While sexual assault is never the fault of the survivor, students are encouraged to remain alert and aware of their surroundings. Remember to keep a watchful eye for each other's safety by reporting anyone who appears suspicious in residence halls or other common area on campus. Furthermore, the behavior described in this notice is not tolerated in our community and, as possible, appropriate actions will be taken to hold responsible individuals accountable.
All students are urged to review the college's sexual assault policies, including what constitutes sexual assault under federal law; recommended personal safety measures and how to help friends who may have been assaulted.
