Academics

Intersemester & off-campus courses

  • Educational Policy Committee’s role regarding domestic courses is to decide academic approval, while the Provost is responsible for resource approval.  Any proposal should be accompanied by an endorsement from the department chair just like any other course proposal. (March 31, 2011 Ed Pol Minutes)

  • In the absence of guidelines on the relationship of credit to contact hours, assignments, etc., short courses should come to the Educational Policy Committee for approval prior to being taught for the first time, while simultaneously going to the Provost’s Office for budget approval.  (April 8 2010 Ed Pol Minutes, 2009-2010 Ed Pol Annual Report)

  • Academic credit for courses offered during January or spring break must be approved by the Educational Policy Committee in advance and must demonstrate how the contact hours and rigor of the course would constitute a half credit.  (March 22, 2004 Ed Pol Minutes)
