Wheaton College Norton, Massachusetts

Activities? I am starting a violence awareness club and I am currently getting training on how to respond to survivors and guide them to available resources. I am also starting an intercultural theater club on campus, which has the vision to bring into light cultures, ideas and issues that are not usually discussed or known through colorful performances and art. Look for both groups in the fall!

Why Wheaton? Its small size. I love the fact that it is easy to approach and find people. It makes me feel like I live in a safe and friendly community.

United World College of Costa Rica: I was selected to attend United World College of Costa Rica 2007-2009 and I lived for two years with 180 students from more than 80 nationalities. It was the greatest experience of my life.

During one of our project weeks we built a provisional school for children in Poasito. We cleaned a horse stable and transformed it to a small provisional school.  This community was especially devastated after an earthquake that stroke Costa Rica in Jan 2009. We also did a small play for the children in Poasito. It was great to give them some “sunshine” after the storm. UWCCR taught me that helping others is extremely valuable.

Favorite sport? I love playing tennis and chess. Tennis has been a very important part of my life. It is the only sport in which I’m willing to spend more than three hours playing. It is a way to release the stress and have fun. On the other hand, chess is a great “mental sport” and I enjoy planning the right moves and hopefully putting my opponent in a hard situation.

Favorite quote? “Getting there is hard, staying there is even harder.”—My dad
