I very much like studying political theory and Middle Eastern politics. In our department I teach a number of courses relevant to these fields. Please allow me to share with you few sentences on what political theory is.

Political theory studies themes like freedom, justice, power, democracy, war, violence and the enforcement of law by authority. What do these concepts mean? What are their role and relevance in the makeup of a civilized life worthy of living? What makes a government legitimate? Reform or revolution; which one is a better choice vis-à-vis an illegitimate State? Political philosophy, moreover, examines the nature of politics and addresses questions like what does an appropriate relationship between politics, religion and morality look like?

I have been inspired by brilliant students at Wheaton and I look forward to having you in my classes in the future!
