In Memory of Tania Richards Sicard '05: The Philosophy Department celebrates the life of one of its major alums
The Philosophy Department was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tania Richards Sicard, a Philosophy major who graduated from the College in 2005. Tania was a vivacious, spirited, and thoughtful young woman who brought great joy and enthusiasm to her study of Philosophy.
In her memory and her honor, the members of the Philosophy Department have created the Tania Richards Sicard Memorial Prize in Philosophy. The Prize will be awarded at Honors Convocation each spring to a student "who engages with faculty, other students and course work in a way that demonstrates exuberance for the subject of Philosophy."
While members of the Department of Philosophy have made contributions to create the Prize and to be able to award it beginning this academic year, we need the help of classmates and friends to fully establish the Prize and to ensure that it will be funded in perpetuity. Knowing that this would be the case, the official listing of the Prize reads: "The Tania Richards Sicard '05 Memorial Prize in Philosophy: Established in 2010 by the generosity of the Department of Philosophy, classmates and friends."
To contribute to the Prize fund, please make the check out to "Wheaton College" (with "Tania Richards Sicard Memorial Prize in Philosophy" in the memo line) and send it to:
