Homecoming was a hit

Head of the class
For the second time since 2004, the Institute for International Education has recognized Wheaton as one of the top producers of Fulbright scholars. Last spring, five Wheaton students won Fulbright awards to study and teach abroad this academic year. (More)

Intro to art ... for 10-year-olds
Seven Wheaton students have teamed up to create a campus art gallery for children, displaying the book illustrations of author-artist Taylor Morrison and inviting him here to speak with Norton fifth graders. Taylor's picture book about the 1913 Buffalo nickel offered "a perfect combination of beautiful fine painting and non-fiction history for young students," said Meredith Ferguson '08, an art history and anthropology major. Good chemistry
The American Chemical Society (ACS) will honor Bojan Hamlin Jennings, professor emerita of chemistry, with the distinguished ACS Award for Encouraging Women into Careers in the Chemical Sciences at the group's national meeting in Chicago next March. During four decades of teaching at Wheaton, it is estimated that Jennings encouraged more than 150 chemistry majors, at least 30 of whom went on to doctoral work in the sciences. (More)

At its annual Fall Celebration during Homecoming weekend, the Alumnae/i Association honored six alums for their philanthropic work on behalf of the college and their local communities. (More)

The Alumnae/i Association welcomes your nominations for the 2007 Alumnae/i Achievement Awards and for positions on its board. Please submit your completed nomination form to the Office of Alumnae/i Relations by Friday, October 27. ATHLETICS

Winning streaks
Three Wheaton teams are on a roll this fall, with women's soccer winning 14 in a row (and the NEWMAC season title) and men's soccer jumping to first place in the NEWMAC standings. Meanwhile, the field hockey team has tied its own record for season wins. (More)
