National laurels
Political science major Myles Matteson '06 has been named a Marshall Scholar for 2006, earning scholarship support for two years of graduate study in the United Kingdom (read more). Russian Studies major Michael Freese '08 will study in Russia next semester with the support of a Fulbright-Hays Scholarship (read more).
Hearst Foundation renews support for scholarships
The William Randolph Hearst Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to Wheaton to support scholarships for students of color. The contribution will further augment an endowed scholarship fund established by the foundation in 1993. (More)
Alumna's photograph featured on National Geographic cover
Becky Hale '99, a studio photographer for National Geographic magazine, collaborated on her first cover shoot for the November issue. (More)

ATHLETICS
Dramatic win
The women's swimming and diving team stunned NEWMAC powerhouse MIT on Dec. 9, as the Lyons downed the Engineers for the first time in 13 years. The dramatic outcome came down to the final event of the afternoon, the 200-yard freestyle relay. (More)
Davis named All-America back
Women's soccer standout Erin Davis '08 has been named to a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division III All-America team. (More)
