A 'hidden gem'
The New York Times identified Wheaton as one of the nation's "hidden gems," excellent schools that more students should consider, in its July 30 special section on higher education. (Read more)
Now that's class
The Class of 1956 marked its 50th reunion this year with a special gift to the local community - a $1,500 donation to the Cupboard of Kindness food pantry. They have challenged Wheaton students to match their gift by donating 1,500 food items to the pantry this fall. (Read story)
Join us for Homecoming weekend
Wheaton's family and alumnae/i weekend begins on Friday, Sept. 29, and continues through Sunday morning with a great line-up of academic, cultural, and sporting events. Come visit with students and celebrate the spirit of the Lyons! (Learn more)
Newport dance company opens fall arts season
Island Moving Company, a contemporary ballet ensemble from Newport, R.I., will be the season's first guests for the Evelyn Danzig Haas '39 Visiting Artists Program. (Read story)

ATHLETICS
Honors for James
Amber James '04, a standout in the 400-meter dash during her Wheaton track career, has been selected for the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Silver Anniversary Team. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of women competing in the NCAA outdoor track and field championships, the team consists of the sport's most outstanding individuals in each event. (Read more)
Soccer abroad
The men's soccer team represented Wheaton during a tour of England, Italy and Switzerland from August 3-13. The European trip was the first of its kind for any Wheaton team. (Read more)
