Wheaton is on a roll with national scholarships
Karin Seeber '05 of Groton, Mass., a double major in English and German, and Henry Gerlits '05 of Franklin, Mass., a double major in philosophy and religion, will teach English in Germany and South Korea, respectively, next year as the recipients of Fulbright Scholarships. Seeber and Gerlits join several of their college peers in receiving prestigious academic awards this year. So far this semester, Wheaton students have won two Fulbright Scholarships, two Truman Scholarships and two Watson Fellowships. Last semester, senior Carolyn Wills was named a Rhodes Scholar. (More)

Inauguration weekend
The college community will celebrate the inauguration of President Ronald A. Crutcher on April 15-17, 2005. Make plans to attend the ceremony and related festivities, including a Saturday symposium on diversity as an asset in higher education. (Details here)

Artist lecture rescheduled
On Monday, April 25, painter and printmaker Michael Mazur will visit campus to speak on his life and work as an artist, teacher and writer. Sponsored by the Celeste Gottesman Bartos'35 Fund for the Visual Arts for the Evelyn Danzig Haas'39 Visiting Artists Program, the lecture will take place at 7 p.m. in Ellison Lecture Hall, Watson Fine Arts. (Note that this lecture was originally scheduled for April 6.)

New on the Web

Introducing the Klemperer Trio
The Klemperer Trio, with President Ronald Crutcher on cello, will perform at Wheaton on April 5. Call 508-286-3380 to reserve free tickets, and visit the trio's new Web site to sample their glorious sound ahead of time.

Athletics

In the swim
Sophomore Barrett Roberts led the men's swimming and diving team at the NCAA Division III National Championship, becoming the first Wheaton swimmer to garner All-America honors in the program's 14-year history. (More)

Also making waves ...
The synchronized swimming team is the top Division III team in the nation, having edged out rival Keuka College at the United States Collegiate Championship in Gainesville, Florida. (More)

Five stellar performances
The women's indoor track and field team sent five of its members to the NCAA Division III Championship at Illinois Wesleyan University in March, and the Lyons came home with all five garnering All-America performances. (More.)
