National study puts Wheaton among country's best colleges
Wheaton is among the top 15 percent of colleges and universities nationwide on four of five key components of quality in undergraduate education, according to results from the 2002 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The report, which surveyed 613 colleges and universities, affirmed that Wheaton excels in providing students with a high-quality academic experience.

Must-See TV
If you've never seen Wheaton's fleet-footed 4x400 relay teams in action, this weekend could be your chance. The men's and women's teams, competing in the prestigious Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden in New York, are slated to appear in network broadcasts of the event.
The men are slated for live broadcast tonight during ESPN2 coverage from 7-9 p.m. (they are scheduled to run at 8:45 p.m. EST). The women are expected to be part of taped coverage on NBC SportsSaturday, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. EST.
Wheaton remembers Professor Emeritus Holcombe M. Austin
The Wheaton community remembers Holcombe M. Austin, Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, who died on Wednesday, January 8.
Professor Austin was an extraordinary and inspirational member of the Wheaton community for 68 years. Among his many contributions, Professor Austin was instrumental in revitalizing reunion and memorial tree plantings in the 1970s. As interest in the often unusual new plantings grew, Austin began the beloved Wheaton Tree Walk in 1974. (more)
King's Singers to perform at Wheaton
The King's Singers, often described as the world's premier a capella singing ensemble, will perform in Cole Chapel on Feb. 19 as part of the Loser concert series. Only Wheaton students may reserve tickets for the 7:30 p.m concert by calling the Loser Concert Line at 508-286-3515. All public seats have been reserved already. Lyons on winning streaks
The men's and women's basketball teams each pushed their unbeaten streaks to three consecutive games this week. With only six games left to the regular season, the women's team moves to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The men boast a 15-5 overall record and 4-3 conference mark.
Wheaton soccer star invited to major league soccer tryout
Senior Shaun Cavanaugh was invited by the Major League Soccer's New England Revolution to a try-out for local players. Cavanaugh, a two-time All-American, is ranked in Wheaton's all-time top five in all major statistical categories, including tied for second in goals (35), third in points (92) and fifth in assists (22).
