Quaglia speaks at Wheaton College for Family Literacy Month

November 10, 1999

Robert Quaglia, director of the National Center of Student Aspirations at the University of Maine, will speak at Wheaton College on Monday, November 15 as part of a month-long series of events highlighting Family Literacy Month in the Norton-Attleboro area.

The former author of a syndicated parenting column, Quaglia has appeared on NBC’s Today Show, C-SPAN, and CNN. He is also the author of two books on related topics, and has published the results of his research on aspirations and controversial educational topics in national journals.

Quaglia’s lecture is titled, "Believing in Achieving: Beyond the Looking Glass." The focus will be on the eight conditions identified by the National Center for Student Aspirations as important factors in the successful lives of children. These aspirations include creativity, a sense of belonging, and curiosity.

Parents and their children are welcome to attend Quaglia’s lecture. It will be held in Wheaton College’s Hindle Science Center Auditorium from 5 to 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
