Blazing a path to financial success

A partner in one of Boston's best-known institutional investment firms will visit campus to discuss economic theory, investing and careers in financial management as a Wheaton Distinguished Fellow.

Diane C. Nordin '80, the senior vice president, partner and director of fixed income at Wellington Management, will speak with students in several open meetings as well as visit a class on banking and monetary policy on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

As director of fixed income, Nordin is responsible for overseeing Wellington Management's investment services to fixed income clients. She leads the firm's fixed income portfolio management and research teams located in Boston, London, Tokyo and Sydney. Prior to joining Wellington Management in 1991, Nordin worked for Fidelity Management Trust Company and the Putnam Advisory Company.

In addition to her duties at Wellington, Nordin is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society, the Boston Fixed Income Management Society, and The Boston Economics Club. She also serves on the Institutional Investor Fixed Income Forum Board.

Nordin will be the guest of honor at a luncheon with students in the Investment, Economics and the 85-Broads-to-Be club in the president's dining room 1 and 2 at 1 p.m. Following lunch, there will be an award presentation, also in the president's dining room 1 and 2, at 2:30 p.m.

This event, which is part of the Wheaton Distinguished Fellows Program, is sponsored by the Office of the President. The Wheaton Distinguished Fellows program pairs world-class leaders from Boston with Wheaton faculty members and students. Past fellows have included Magaret Marshall, chief justice of The Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts (1998); Liz Walker, former anchor for News 4 New England, WBZ-TV (1999-2000); and Kathleen Dennehy '76, commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Correction.
