Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers present traditional vespers
November 26, 2007
Starlight and the new year will be among the themes as the Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers present their annual holiday vespers midst the greens and candlelight of Wheaton's Cole Memorial Chapel. The concert will be presented on Sunday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m., under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Tim Harbold.
In addition to familiar carols and holiday songs, the program will include music spanning 10 centuries and four continents. Featured composers include Dufay, Praetorius, Mendelssohn, Hensel, and Thompson. An ensemble of cornetts and sackbuts will accompany the singers, along with College Organist William MacPherson.
The campus will be lit with luminaria for the event, and a post-concert reception will be held in the Balfour-Hood Atrium.
The concert is open to the public without charge. Donations will be gratefully accepted, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting charities.
