Four Wheaton students won five prizes at the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition, Rhode Island division. Our six participants were Caitlin Fahey ’07, soprano, Alexander Grover ’09, baritone, Christopher MacDonald ’10, countertenor, Elizabeth McKay ’08, mezzo-soprano, Melissa Roby ’07, mezzo-soprano, and Jordan Trundy ’10, baritone, on Saturday, March 31.

Wheaton senior wins Fulbright to teach in Hong Kong
April 6, 2007NORTON–Wheaton senior Shanita Gopie, an English major from Westbury, New York, has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach English in Hong Kong. For a year, Gopie will work at the Hong Kong Institute of Education, a public university-level school dedicated to the preparation and professional development of teachers.
Wheaton professor's research points to a sea of water beneath ice on Saturn's moon Enceladus
April 6, 2007A new study by Associate Professor of Geology Geoffrey Collins and his research partner suggests that there is a sea of liquid water trapped beneath the ice on Enceladus, one of Saturn’s moons. Their paper on the research will be published by the planetary science journal Icarus.
'A memorial and a message for peace'
April 5, 2007NORTON–Members of the Wheaton community, led by the College Democrats and the Progressive Activists Coalition, folded 3,218 paper cranes–one for every U.S. soldier killed in the Iraq War–to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of that country on March 19, 2003.

Student leader wins Fulbright to teach in South Korea
April 2, 2007NORTON–Sarata Toriola ’07, an English major and campus leader from the Bronx, New York, has won a Fulbright Scholarship for 2008. She will travel to South Korea to teach English and conduct research on Korean women writers.
