[NORTON]--Residents of Norton and neighboring communities are invited to visit campus and enjoy ''Partners in Learning,'' the third annual Wheaton College Community Day, on Sunday, April 29, 2007, from noon to 4 p.m.
This year, the free festival of arts, entertainment and family activities will honor the local people and organizations who partner with the college throughout the year. Wheaton will recognize these community members at a 3:30 p.m. ceremony in the Balfour-Hood Campus Center.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can explore the campus, view the senior art majors exhibition, try their hand at origami and other world crafts, discover the inner workings of a fire engine and challenge themselves with math activities sponsored by Wheaton faculty. In the field house, Wheaton students and coaches will offer sports, games and a moon bounce. The festival will also include a hometown cookout, live music and dance, storytelling, a performance by North Youth Theatre and a free raffle, with prizes to include a football autographed by Troy Brown, an iPod, a night's stay in Jacuzzi Suite and a health club membership.
Later, the Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers will join with the Oure Pleasure Singers of Attleboro and other friends for a 7:30 p.m. concert exploring new choral works by contemporary composers.
Wheaton is a highly selective liberal arts college located in Norton, Mass., with 1,550 students drawn from 45 states and 35 countries.
