Students give gallery talks at MFA

In an impressive display of Wheaton’s commitment to experiential learning, two students recently had the chance to give gallery talks at Boston’s venerable and prestigious Museum of Fine Arts, accepting an invitation extended to them by one of the museum’s top curators.

NORTON–Wheaton senior Laura Burr, a psychology major and elementary education minor from South Glastonbury, Conn., has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach English in Taiwan.

Senior Laura Tschop named a Fulbright Scholar to South Korea

Senior Laura Tschop plans to spend next year looking for answers to helping immigrant schoolchildren in the U. S. learn English and perform well on standardized tests in South Korean classrooms.

Wheaton senior Derron Wallace wins Thomas J. Watson Fellowship

Senior Derron J. R. Wallace of Bronx, N. Y. , was named by the Thomas J. Watson Foundation as one of 50 college seniors nationwide who show unusual promise as leaders and global citizens.

Greenhouse tour and clinic

The Wheaton College greenhouses are open for tours and repotting clinics four times each academic year. The next open house is scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the open house, visitors are free to wander around the greenhouses at their leisure and may also bring plants in need of repotting.
