Wheaton will host a non-denominational community-wide service for peace around the world on Monday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Memorial Chapel.

''Sharing Higher Ground: An interfaith community-wide service for peace'' will provide a forum for shared concern and prayers for peace in Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, the West Bank, New Orleans and other troubled areas of the globe.

''Please join us for an opportunity to honor this common ground, to mourn loved ones lost to violence at home and abroad, to support those currently in harm's way, and to pray for their speedy and safe homecoming,'' wrote Vereene Parnell, Associate Dean of the Office of Service, Spirituality and Social Responsibility, in invitations to the service.

Donations will be accepted to support U.S. Service men and women serving in Iraq and to provide humanitarian aid to genocide victims in Darfur.

The event is sponsored by the Wheaton College Office of Service, Spirituality and Social Responsibility, the College Conservatives, Progressive Activist Coalition, Wheaton Men's Lacrosse and Women's Field Hockey teams, Christian Fellowship, Hillel and the Wheaton Interfaith Alliance.
