Wheaton has received a $100,000 grant from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation to support scholarships for students of color.

Wheaton has received a $100,000 grant from the William Randolph Hearst Foundation to support scholarships for students of color.

The contribution will be added to the William Randolph Hearst Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund established by the Foundation in 1993 with an initial $100,000 contribution. The Hearst Foundation augmented the fund with an additional $100,000 in 2001.

Since its inception, the endowed fund has provided nearly $100,000 in need-based financial aid to Wheaton students. This year the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship provided more than $11,000 in financial aid support.

The Hearst Foundations' philanthropic programs reflect the interests of its namesake in supporting education, health, social service and culture, with a special emphasis on providing opportunities to underserved and underrepresented populations. The foundation supports undergraduate education through the establishment of endowed scholarships at private liberal arts colleges and universities.
