Davis and Wheaton fellows programs support summer learning experiences for students

March 21, 2006

Wheaton College students are invited to apply for funding to support independent learning experiences this summer through the Wheaton Fellows program and the Davis International Fellows program. The application deadline for both programs is Friday, April 7, 2006.

The Wheaton Fellows program funds students who undertake educationally meaningful internships, service experiences, or structured independent research. The Summer 2006 Wheaton Fellows will receive a $3,000 award to support an experience for at least eight weeks during the summer break. The award may be used to cover travel and living expenses.

Proposals for Wheaton Fellows will be accepted from current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are in good academic and social standing.

The Davis International Fellows program supports students who undertake educationally meaningful international internships, service experiences, or overseas structured independent research. The Summer 2006 International Fellows will receive a $5,000 award to support an overseas experience for approximately eight weeks during the summer break. The award may be used to cover travel and living expenses as well as any preparatory costs, such as immunizations, passport and visa fees.

Proposals for the Davis International Fellows will be accepted from current sophomores and juniors with at least a 3.0 GPA, who are in good academic and social standing.

Students from any Wheaton major disciplinary area may apply to these programs. The programs are not need-based and are open to international students who meet all other eligibility criteria. The application process is competitive.
