Holiday Vespers to take place as scheduled on Dec 7

With the weather outside frightful, Holiday Vespers will be all the more delightful.

With the weather outside frightful, Holiday Vespers will be all the more delightful.

The Wheaton College Chorale and Chamber Singers will present their annual Holiday Vespers on Sunday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m., as originally scheduled, despite the winter storm.

All are invited to join in the holiday cheer midst the greens and candlelight in Wheaton's Cole Memorial Chapel. After the concert, a reception will be held in the Balfour-Hood Atrium. (The traditional luminaria display may not be possible due to the storm.)

In addition to familiar carols, wassailing songs and dance tunes, songs of love and merriment add to the festivities. The program also includes Latvian carols, Slovak songs, and celebratory tunes from India and the Huron Indians. Trumpet fanfares and organ music from Carlton T. Russell add to the celebration.

The Wheaton Chorale and Chamber Singers are directed by Tim Harbold, with assistance from student conductors Kendra Scott, Ben Thomas, Katie Satterstrom and Chorale Accompanist Kathryn Work.

The concert is open to the public without charge. Donations will be gratefully accepted, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit local charities.
