Renowned musical theatre teacher and vocalist brings a touch of Broadway to Weber Theatre

Mary Saunders, teacher of musical theatre, vocalist, and an Evelyn Danzig Haas '39 Visiting Artist will perform for the Wheaton campus on October 17 at 7:30 in the Weber Theatre. The performance will be preceded in the afternoon by a master class in musical theatre taught to several of the Wheaton students. Mary Saunders is a cum laude/phi beta kappa graduate of Mount Holyoke College. Saunders also received a Master's degree from Middlebury College and the Sorbonne, Paris. She spent time studying with Pierre Bernac at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Musique. Currently, Saunders is the head of voice instruction for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at Penn State.
Mary Saunders is an active performer with Broadway, off-Broadway, film, and television credits. She has recently focused her efforts on the creation and performance of one-woman cabaret shows such as Stop Time, which played to sold-out houses in New York City. Along with her performance work and teaching at the university, Saunders also maintains a studio in Manhattan for professional singers. Several of her students have been seen on Broadway in Kiss Me Kate, Seussical, The Musical, Cabaret, Follies, 42nd Street, Rent, Urinetown, and the Tony Award winner The Producers.
