Traffic Advisory for Saturday, August 30, 2003

What do golf maven Tiger Woods, singer Jimmy Buffet, men in grass skirts with rubber sharks on their heads and 100,000 golf fans have in common?

Along with Wheaton's Class of 2007, they'll all be arriving in Norton on Saturday, August 30. Tiger Woods and other members of the PGA tour are playing in the Deutsche Bank Championship at the Tournament Players Club, while Jimmy Buffet will be performing for legions of >=Parrot Heads? at the Tweeter Center.

With both venues less than three miles from Wheaton, traffic is expected to be heavy near campus, particularly on Route 140. Wheaton's first-year students and their families are advised to arrive on campus by 8 a.m. via one of the routes suggested below, all designed to avoid Route 140.

From the north:

Take 95 south to Exit 6A to 495 south. Take 495 to exit 10 (Route 123 west), and follow for 1.5 miles to Wheaton.

From the Boston area
Take 93 south to Exit 4 (Route 24 south). Follow Route 24 south to Exit 7 (Route 495 north). Take 495 to exit 10 (Route 123 west), and follow for 1.5 miles to Wheaton.

From the west
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to Exit 11A to 495 south. Take 495 to exit 10 (Route 123 west), and follow for 1.5 miles to Wheaton.

From Providence and the south
Take Route 95 north to Exit 3. Follow Route 123 through Attleboro to Wheaton, approximately 8 miles.

From the east
Take 495 north to Exit 10. Follow Route 123 west for 1.5 miles to Wheaton.
