Ailey® II, the dynamic young touring ensemble created by Alvin Ailey in 1974 to showcase the talents of young dancers, will conduct master classes at Wheaton in September, capping off their visit with a performance on Saturday, September 20. The ensemble’s visit is part of Wheaton’s new initiative, the Evelyn Danzig Haas ’39 Visiting Artists Program & Arts in the City.

Wheaton student earns Fulbright to Peru
July 24, 2003Laura Berman, a 2003 Wheaton graduate, is the recipient of a Fulbright award for research on economic development in Peru. Berman will spend a year researching and analyzing the effects of energy privatization on the Peruvian economy as an associate of the Group for the Analysis of Development, a private research center in Lima.

Berman joins several of her college peers in receiving prestigious academic awards–Wheaton students earned six Fulbright awards and one Truman scholarship this year.
Wheaton awarded vernal pool research grant
July 21, 2003The Merck Company Foundation and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) have jointly awarded Wheaton $60,000 to support interdisciplinary research on vernal pools with students in chemistry and biology during the next three summers.
