Wheaton Chamber Orchestra performs spring concert

Wheaton's Chamber Orchestra will perform its annual spring concert on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Memorial Chapel.
The program will include works by Marquina, Grainger, Ravel, Washburn and J.S. Bach's Cantata No.51 with featured soloists Joanne Mouradjian, soprano and Earl Raney, trumpet. The performance marks the ensemble directorial and conducting finale for Joseph Bono, retiring in May after fifteen years as a member of the faculty at Wheaton.
Joanne Mouradjian, soprano, is heard as soloist in the New England area in oratorio, recital and operetta. She has performed with ensembles including the Providence Singers, New Bedford Chorale, Rhode Civic Chorale and the Wheaton Chorale. She holds degrees from Rhode Island College and Boston University where she was awarded a master's degree in music performance in voice and was elected into the national music honor society, Pi Kappa Lamba. In addition to her performance schedule, she maintains a full teaching schedule as assistant professor in performance at Wheaton, teaching applied voice and voice workshop.
Earl Raney is founder and director of the award winning Epic Brass Quintet. Since founding Epic Brass in 1983 he has given over 1,400 performances in 46 states and 13 countries. In addition to his chamber music career, Raney has performed in several New England area orchestras and as principal trumpet of the Taipei Orchestra in Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. Raney is assistant professor of music at Wheaton and an adjunct professor of music at Atlantic Union College. He is music director/conductor of the Southeastern Massachusetts Wind Symphony and music director/conductor of the Atlantic Wind Symphony.
